(1997- )

He has worked mainly on physical processes of cosmological importance. For his thesis, he had worked out the anisotropy in the microwave background radiation due to energetic phenomena in the early universe, such as explosions or decay of relic particles. More recently he has been interested in the physical state of the intergalactic medium, the UV background radiation of the universe, the Lyman-$\alpha$ clouds and the connections with the formation of structure. In this connection, he has shown the importance of dust heating in the intergalactic medium, calculated the contribution of galaxies to the UV background radiation at high redshift and shown the possibility of an enormous energy release in the intergalactic medium from the early formation of black holes.
