My research is concerned with the design, synthesis and applications of various liquid crystalline and nano materials. I am interested in understanding the structure-property relationship in these intriguing self-assembling supra-molecular architectures. Present objectives are: (a) design, synthesis and applications of novel liquid crystalline materials; (b) development of new synthetic routes to the synthesis of liquid crystals (LCs); (c) search for new reagents for the synthesis of LCs; (d) synthesis and characterization of various zero-, one- and two-dimensional metallic, semiconducting and carbon nanoparticles; (e) incorporation of nanoparticles in the supramolecular order of LCs to hybridize their properties; (f) physical studies on liquid crystals and nanoparticles dispersed liquid crystalline systems.
