Measuring ultrafast processes in atoms, molecules, and plasmas
Speaker: Moniruzzaman Shaikh (Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Berkeley,USA)
Abstract: Over the past decade, I have been using ultrafast techniques to measure real-time changes in atoms, molecules, and plasmas using intense femtosecond lasers, high-order harmonics, and synchrotron radiation. In my presentation, I will talk about some of my scientific achievements: (i) measuring the damping dynamics and transport of mega-ampere currents of relativistic electrons launched by ultra-intense, femtosecond laser pulses in solids [1, 2], (ii) probing autoionization dynamics in atoms [3], and (iii) probing electron correlation in polyatomic molecules [4]. Additionally, I’ll present my role in designing and building strong field-driven high harmonic generation (HHG) setups on empty tables at the University of Arizona and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and using them for studying electronic dynamics in atoms and small molecules by attosecond spectroscopy.
