The quantum theory of nature, formalised in the first few decades of the 20th century, contains elements that are fundamentally different from those required in the classical description of nature.  Based on the laws of quantum mechanics, in recent years,  several discoveries have been reported that can revolutionize the way we think about modern technologies.   I will talk about such inventions in the field of communication and some of our recent results in building communication networks.

the University of Gdansk under Prof. Marek Zukowski. She later was an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellow with Prof. Maciej Lewenstein
in Hannover, a Ramon y Cajal Fellow in ICFO - The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Barcelona - and an Assistant Professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru
University, Delhi. She, along with Prof. Ujjwal Sen and Prof. Arun K Pati, started the Quantum Information and Computation group (QIC) at HRI in
2009. The group has grown to consist of 3 faculty members: Dr. Debraj Rakshit, Prof. Ujjwal Sen and herself; as well as 24 PhD students and 4
Postdoctoral Fellows. She has received the Buti Foundation Award for Excellence in Theoretical Physics, Astrophysics and Biophysics in 2012,
Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in 2018 and the GD Birla award for scientific research in 2023. She is a Fellow of the Indian
Academy of Sciences and the Indian National Science Academy.
