We are at the onset of the second quantum revolution, marking a new era of scientific and technological advances driven by key quantum resources, with entanglement at its core. In this seminar, I will highlight the advantageous applications of quantum entanglement in network communication, secure quantum devices, and energetic quantum technologies such as quantum batteries, while exploring deeper connections between quantum theory, information theory, and quantum thermodynamics. I will then discuss the fundamental challenges of entanglement distribution in generic quantum networks and present strategies for mitigating noise and other practical limitations. Finally, I will introduce a novel thermodynamic framework for quantifying and certifying quantum resources through experimentally measurable quantities across diverse quantum platforms. I will conclude by outlining future research directions at RRI, including planned projects, milestones, and anticipated scientific and societal impact

Short Biography
Dr. Mir Alimuddin is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow at ICFO – The Institute of Photonic Sciences, Barcelona, Spain, working with Prof. Antonio Acín in the Quantum Information Theory group. His research focuses on quantum information and communication theory, quantum networks, quantum thermodynamics, and the foundations of quantum mechanics, with particular emphasis on the role of entanglement as a resource for emerging quantum technologies. He received his Ph.D. in Physics in 2022 from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, under the supervision of Prof. Preeti Parashar. His doctoral research explored quantum thermodynamics from the perspective of quantum information theory. Following his Ph.D., he worked as a Research Associate-I and later as a Chanakya Postdoctoral Fellow at IISER Thiruvananthapuram and the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences under the mentorship of Dr. Manik Banik. Dr. Alimuddin has authored more than 27 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, including Physical Review Letters (8), Physical Review A (10), New Journal of Physics (2), and Quantum (2). His work investigates fundamental connections between quantum information, thermodynamics, and the foundations of quantum theory
