The Computer Division meets the various computing needs of the different research and development groups of the Raman Research Institute. The computing facilities consist of High Performance Cluster and multi-CPU multi-core servers accessed by users from their desktops. A campus-wide local area network hooks up these systems. Application-specific software packages along with development tools are available on these platforms.
RRI Local Area Network
The campus network consists of a switched Ten-Gigabit backbone on fiber and wired Gigabit Ethernet to the desktops. Additionally, wireless connectivity is provided for mobile users.
E-mail and Internet
E-mail facility is available for Staff, Students and Visitors. Internet access is provided by a dedicated 1Gbps line.
Eduroam
Eduroam service is enabled in the RRI campus. Eduroam is a secure, worldwide Wi-Fi roaming service for the education and research community, enabling students, faculty and researchers to access the internet seamlessly at participating institutions across the world using their home institution's Eduroam credentials.
