Public Grievance

The Institute, founded in 1948 by Sir C. V. Raman, is an autonomous research institution engaged in research in basic science. The Government of India, through the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, funds the Institute.

As the institute is engaged in research in basic sciences, the involvement of general public in its day to day activities is very limited. However, a mechanism to redress Public Grievances is set up to render prompt responses to the grievances received, if any.

The Public Grievance mechanism also includes hearing of the grievances in person by the designated officer. The grievances may include, grievances sent by post, by fax, by mail or in person.
