The Raman Research Institute is a premier research institution founded by Nobel Laureate Professor C V Raman. The Institute has a rich heritage and conducts cutting-edge fundamental research in frontier areas of Physics under contemporary research themes.
The Institute is undertaking a major recruitment drive and welcomes applications for regular faculty appointments. There are multiple vacancies for the positions of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor. Please note that Assistant Professor is an entry level position at RRI. The Institute invites applications for various Faculty positions in Pay Levels 12, 13 and 13A. The areas of research at the Institute are Astronomy & Astrophysics, Light & Matter Physics, Soft Condensed Matter and Theoretical Physics.

While the Institute is interested in candidates with a strong background in the above research areas, additional research interests contributing to breadth of research would be most welcome.

Prescribed Minimum Qualification / Experience / Age:

Regular research staff of the Institute are expected to primarily engage in independent research in fundamental science and, additionally, participate in activities that promote the academic environment of the Institute.
The Raman Research Institute values interactions, collaborations with colleagues, collaborations with researchers in other institutions in India and overseas, and participation in the academic activities of the Institute are encouraged. Opportunities exist for supervision of short-term visiting students as well as Ph.D. students. Opportunities exist for proposing new experiments, the setting up of research laboratories, and participation in the many ongoing experimental and mega frontier international research collaborations and efforts. The salary would depend on experience and current status. Financial assistance towards relocation will be provided as per norms.

Additional information:
The Institute reserves the right to screen and call only such candidates for a seminar/interaction/assessment as are found suitable. Thus, just fulfilling the minimum eligibility criteria would not entitle one to be shortlisted.
Travel expenses for attending the interview from any point within India will be reimbursable as per the Institute norms. (Tickets shall be purchased only through the agencies authorized by the institute).

Terms and conditions:
1. The candidate must be a citizen of India.
2. The appointments are on regular basis with a probation period of 1 year.
3. All the employees appointed to Institute service on or after 01.01.2004 are covered under the New Pension Scheme (NPS).
4. During the period of service, every employee shall be covered under CCS (Conduct) Rules and CCS (CCA) Rules etc.
5. The prescribed qualifications are the minimum required and the mere fact that a candidate possesses the same will not entitle them for being called for an interview.
6. Candidates working in Government / PSU / Autonomous Bodies should obtain NOC from the present employer and upload it online. However, application without NOC will also be considered provided the candidate uploads a duly signed undertaking that the NOC will be submitted at the time of verification of certificates.
7. Candidates should submit applications well in advance, without waiting until the last date.
8. The Institute reserves the right to reject any application without assigning any reason. The Institute also reserves the right to cancel the advertisement/ recruitment process at any stage due to administrative reasons. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
9. The Institute reserves the right to verify the antecedents and documents submitted by the candidate. In case it is found that the documents submitted by the candidate are not genuine, then the services shall be terminated after due process, and disciplinary/criminal proceedings will be initiated of such candidates even after appointment.
10. Courts’ Jurisdiction: Any dispute in regard to this recruitment will be subject to the courts in Bengaluru.
