About

Pramod Pullarkat started his research career working on Liquid Crystalline materials for his PhD. Subsequently he shifted to the area of Biophysics where his interest was in understanding the active and passive mechanical responses of cells. Currently his lab focusses mainly on axons which are tubular extensions of neuronal cells. The team is interested in axonal viscoelastic properties, active contractile mechanics, membrane dynamics, shape instabilities, etc. These are often explored using ideas from soft matter physics and using a variety of home-developed tools.
