About
Neurons are the basic cells that process information within the brain and other body parts. Neurons have a long fiber known as axon, extending from neurons and transmitting signals away from the cell body. My interested areas are passive (at room temperature) and active (at 37o C) non-linear viscoelastic properties of axons, axonal active contractile responses, and their relationships with the individual cytoskeleton components. For understanding these properties, I perform my experiments using a home-built optical fiber-based force device known as Micro-Extensional-Rheometer and in vitro cultured chick DRG neurons.
