Probing Neutron Stars' Interior and Magnetosphere Through Pulsar Timing and Emission Variability

Pulsars are exceptional laboratories for studying physics under extreme conditions. Their rotational evolution, tracked through precise radio pulse timing, reveals phenomena such as glitches and timing noise. Glitches are thought to originate in the neutron star's interior — particularly in the superfluid component — while the other may reflect dynamic changes in the magnetosphere and/or in the superfluid component of the stellar interior.
In this talk, I will highlight recent efforts to understand these phenomena using both observational and theoretical approaches. I will focus especially on timing noise and its potential connection to magnetospheric state changes, emission variability, and internal coupling. By combining emission studies with high-precision timing, we can probe both the interior and the magnetosphere of neutron stars, offering new clues to long-standing questions in pulsar astrophysics.
