Some key moments and results from X-ray astronomy in India

Abstract
Almost all areas of astronomy received tremendous boost with the advent of space observatories. With more than 40 space missions from all major space agencies, X-ray astronomy has been at the forefront in investigations of extremes of the universe from the beginning of space exploration. The story is same in India, where space based X-ray astronomy has been an integral part of space exploration from the beginning. Some of the exciting events of X-ray astronomical instrument developments in India for rocket, balloon, and satellite platforms, and some key results from Indian instruments will be discussed in this talk.
Short Biography
Biswajit Paul obtained his PhD working at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in 1997. Continued at TIFR till he joined Raman Research Institute in 2006. Also worked as a JSPS post-doctoral fellow at the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science, Japan. His research interests are around the high magnetic neutron stars in binary systems that emit X-ray pulses by the process of accretion. He has deep interest in X-ray astronomical instrument development and has been involved will generations of X-ray astronomy instruments from India.
