Abstract

Our understanding of the formation and growth of galaxies has improved steadily with the advancement of both the observing instruments as well as the data analysis techniques. In light of that, I will review the attempts made by our group and the insights gained towards the resolution of some of the challenging aspects of the field. This includes emergence of the Hubble sequence, growth of the disc and bulge component, quenching of star formation activity, co-evolution of central SMBH and the host galaxy, cycle of dust and gas, and different evolutionary pathways through the green valley. I will also elucidate how the latest and upcoming telescopes and surveys, including JWST, have the potential to further our knowledge to the next level.
