Abstract

Dense microgel suspensions have been used extensively as models for soft glassy materials and also for their applications as self-healing materials, in drug delivery, etc. We synthesize soft deformable microgel particles in our lab that are capable of absorbing water and swelling substantially. In this talk, I shall describe two of our recent experiments in which we control the unjamming/ fluidization dynamics of dense microgel suspensions by applying shear to the suspension and also by changing the polydispersity index of the particles constituting the suspension.
