Abstract
Accreting neutron stars in binary stellar systems are prolific X-ray emitters and a lot about the neutron stars and their environments is learnt from X-ray observations of these objects. We use intensity variations of the accreting neutron stars and emission and absorption features in their X-ray spectra for better understanding of individual X-ray binaries. In this talk we shall also dwell upon some unexpected results that we had over the years including discovery or a massive circumbinary planet, orbital period glitches in X-ray binaries etc. Scientific prospects with a soon to be launched X-ray polarimeter instrument POLIX will also be briefly discussed.
