Seminar
NMR is for everyone
Speaker: H S Vinay Deepak (Raman Research Institute, Bengaluru)
Abstract: The rapid developments in the domain of NMR spectroscopy continues unabated from the time of its discovery. The developments have come about due to the improved techniques ably supported by novel instrumentation. This in turn has led to applications in highly diverse areas such as medical diagnostics, chemical synthesis, structural biology, agriculture, geology, oil exploration, forensic science, etc., dealing with materials such as bones, brains, proteins, polymers, explosives and liquid crystals just to name a few.
Although sophistication in NMR techniques has increased its relevance to various disciplines, its ease of operation and interpretation appears difficult to investigators coming from other fields. In my talk I will speak about some of the NMR experiments conducted by me and by others in areas bordering soft condensed matter.
