Women at the Intersection of Mathematics and Theoretical Physics

Date
29 December 2025 - 02 January 2026

Venue
Ramanujan Lecture Hall, ICTS Bengaluru

The goal  of the workshop is to stimulate interactions across the borders of mathematics and theoretical physics, in order to help foster research in these areas. Over the years the WIMP workshops have created a community and network for women who are “at the intersection of mathematics and theoretical physics”, a field where women are exceptionally underrepresented and genuine interaction can address this issue and also bring a lot of progress to both mathematics and theoretical physics

The program of the workshop will be based on pedagogical talks, with the goal to teach each other, stimulate interactions and to foster possible collaborations between the participants, as well as to educate the younger generation. In addition we propose to have talks and round table discussions related to gender issues in our field, trying to understand the problems and to search for possible solutions and actions specifically aimed at the younger generations.
Organisers: Sylvie Paycha (University of Potsdam, Potsdam, Germany), Sujatha Ramdorai (UBC, Vancouver, Canada), Kasia Rejzner (University of York, York, UK) and Sumati Surya (RRI, Bengaluru, India)
