Abstract

n this talk, I shall provide a pedagogical introduction to the physics of ultracold atoms with focus on emulation of correlated models using them. I shall also discuss study of non-equilibrium dynamics using these platforms with focus on quantum scars on a Rydberg atom platform that violate eigenstate thermalization.

Short Biography
Krishnendu Sengupta is a Senior Professor at IACS, Kolkata. His work involves several aspects of theoretical condensed matter physics including transport in topological quantum matter, ultracold atoms systems, and non-equilibrium dynamics. He has completed his MSc from IIT Kharagpur and PhD from University of Maryland at College Park. He has been awarded the SSB prize in Physical Sciences in 2012 and is a member of all three science academies. He has served as a council member of APCTP from 2014-2017.
